Terms of Service

Article 1 (Purpose)

These Terms are intended to set forth the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of Olive Tree, an incorporated association (사단법인 올리브트리) (hereinafter the "Operator"), and users, and other necessary matters, in connection with the use of Link Asia (linkasia.net, hereinafter the "Service"), an online news and contribution platform operated by the Operator.

Article 2 (Definitions)

1. "Service" means the AI-based news collection, summarization, and translation, contribution writing and publishing, community, newsletter, and related services provided by the Operator.
2. "User" means a member or non-member who uses the Service in accordance with these Terms.
3. "Member" means a person who has provided personal information to the Operator and completed member registration.
4. "Contributor" means a member who has a contributor profile (pen name) by having published a contribution or applied to become a contributor.
5. "Editor-in-chief" means a person who, having been approved by the Operator, manages published contributions (by unpublishing or deleting them) and, while an approval process is in operation, reviews and approves contributions.

Article 3 (Effect of and Amendments to the Terms)

1. These Terms take effect when posted on the Service screen or otherwise notified to users.
2. The Operator may amend these Terms to the extent that doing so does not violate relevant laws and regulations, and shall give notice of the amended Terms 7 days before their effective date.
3. If a user does not agree to the amended Terms, the user may stop using the Service and withdraw membership.

Article 4 (Provision of the Service)

The Operator provides the following services:

1. AI-based news collection and summarization service
2. Multilingual (Korean/English) news translation service
3. Contribution writing and publishing service for members (including the AI writing assistant)
4. Community board service
5. Newsletter subscription service
6. Other services determined by the Operator

Article 5 (Member Registration)

1. A user applies for member registration in the form prescribed by the Operator, and member registration is completed upon the user's agreement to these Terms.
2. Any member may write contributions, and a contributor profile is created when the member publishes a first contribution or applies to become a contributor. While the Operator operates an approval process, contributions are posted after approval by the editor-in-chief.
3. An editor-in-chief must go through the Operator's approval procedure after member registration.
4. The Operator may refuse member registration in any of the following cases:
   • Where the applicant does not use their real name or uses another person's information
   • Where false information has been entered
   • Where the other usage requirements determined by the Operator are not met

Article 6 (Obligations of Members)

1. Members shall comply with relevant laws and regulations, these Terms, and other rules established by the Operator.
2. Members shall not infringe on the personal information of others or use the Service fraudulently.
3. Members are obligated to keep their account information secure.

Article 7 (Restrictions on Use of the Service)

If a member violates the obligations under these Terms or interferes with the normal operation of the Service, the Operator may restrict the member's use of the Service, or suspend or terminate the member's membership.

Article 8 (Disclaimer)

1. The Operator is exempt from liability where it is unable to provide the Service due to natural disasters, force majeure, or similar events.
2. The Operator does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated summaries and translations, and users should refer to the original text.
3. The Operator does not intervene in disputes between users or between a user and a third party, and bears no liability for such disputes.

Article 9 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

The laws of the Republic of Korea shall apply to the interpretation of and disputes relating to these Terms, and in the event of a dispute, the Seoul Central District Court (서울중앙지방법원) shall be the court of jurisdiction.

Article 10 (Governing Language)

This English version is provided for convenience. In the event of any discrepancy or conflict between the Korean and English versions, the Korean version shall prevail.
