DMZ Tour with The School of Global Sarang

What happens when we combine a one-day unique and engaging experience with a large group of curious teenagers? Our guided tour to DMZ broadens the view on North Korea with exciting conversations and real life experience.

As part of our Education projects, last month we had the opportunity to take a class of 35 students from The School of Global Sarang, an alternative school for children from multicultural families, to Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Alongside with the group, two teachers and a North Korean guest were also present.

The firs stop was the Aegibong Peak observatory where the guide Dr. David shared about North Korean particularities and real life situations while the students could look at the North Korean territory, ask questions and take their time to explore the location.

With new ideas and questions, the students participated in a conversation with our North Korean guest who shared her story and, alongside with the students, had a relaxed and engaging conversation.

After lunch at a local restaurant, we arrived at our last location: Ganghwa Hamsang Park. The students could freely explore a battleship and reflect on war moments and its legacies.

On the way back to Seoul, there was a final conversation moment sharing the thoughts and impressions on the day and the final considerations of the program.

Such first-hand experiences, seeing with your own eyes, listening to real life stories and walking through historical sites while reflecting on the historic legacies not only create last longing memories but inspire the participants to keep learning and getting engaged with meaningful causes. So we keep looking forward for the next participants!
